Juan Diego Mora Rubio is a composer and percussionist from Tachira, Venezuela. Graduated from Bard College in Percussion Performance and Computer Science. He was the principal percussionist of the Regional Orchestra of Táchira and was a student in the El Sistema program for more than 15 years. He began his studies at Bard in January 2021, where he found a passion for the creative, energetic and limitless music-making process of contemporary music. He began his percussion studies at the Bard Percussion Studio with professors Jason Treuting and Eric Cha-Beach, where he continues to learn about percussion chamber music and the role of the percussionist in the 21st century. With a big interest in expanding his music-making capabilities, Juan Diego started to take piano lessons with professor Diana Borshcheva, looking to develop a piano vocabulary based on improvisation and adaptability to different music genres. He also learned how to play Venezuelan Cuatro and Maracas.
